Scunthorpe United have confirmed the signing of striker Gary Hooper from Southend United, subject to a medical.

The 20-year-old forward is set to pen a three-year deal at Glanford Park for an undisclosed fee.

Cheltenham Town had been interested in Hooper; however it was announced on Thursday that he had decided to move elsewhere.

Hooper demonstrated fine goalscoring form during a loan spell at Hereford United last season, scoring 11 goals in 19 appearances.

He joined Southend in 2006 from Grays Athletic and made 44 appearances, netting four goals, during his time at the club.
