Southend have confirmed that they have opened contract talks with four members of their first-team squad.
Club chairman Ron Martin is hoping to secure midfielders Nicky Bailey, Alan McCormack, Mark Gower and Franck Moussa to extended deals at Roots Hall.
Winger Gower's current deal expires in the summer, while McCormack and Moussa have one year remaining and Bailey has two seasons to run on his contract.
Martin is also keen to begin talks with goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan, who is out of contract at the end of the season, as League One play-off hopefuls Southend look to maintain their squad for the long-term.
"We've started talking to a number of players," Martin told the club's official website.
"We're speaking to Nicky, Alan, Mark and Franck about new contracts and it's important we sort it out because we want them to be part of the club's future.
"On top of that it's a reward for what they have done and it's important we maintain continuity.
"It is also on my agenda to start speaking to Darryl about his contract soon as well."
