Gillingham have secured the loan signing of Southend midfielder Kevin Maher until the end of the season.
A former Southend club captain, 31-year-old Maher has not played for the Shrimpers since New Year's Day and is available for Saturday's clash with Hartlepool.
"It is fantastic news that Kevin has finally signed for us," Gillingham boss Mark Stimson told the club's official website.
"We have brought him in to add that extra bit of experience, which will be vital with the predicament we are in.
"He is an excellent passer, is very vocal and can read the game very well."
