Southend have angrily rejected reports linking Kevin Maher with a possible move to Gillingham.
Local press reports suggested Maher could be on his way to Gillingham on loan until the end of the season.
Shrimpers chairman Ron Martin has dismissed the reports saying Maher remains part of the plans at Roots Hall.
Stalwart"Kevin Maher has been an absolute stalwart and great servant of Southend United Football Club and I'm sure it's been a very frustrating time for Kevin playing second fiddle particularly when he's also been captain for a number of seasons," Martin told the club's official website.
"Nevertheless Kevin remains a player of Southend United and, while there have been ongoing discussions with his agent over the past month, no agreement has been reached with any club including Gillingham."
