Sinnott makes first signing

New Port Vale boss Lee Sinnott has made Marc Laird his first signing at Vale Park. Laird arrives on a month's loan from Manchester City as Sinnott looks to bolster his squad. The 21-year-old is hoping to use the move as an opportunity to impress City boss Sven Goran Eriksson.

Interest

"I was first aware of Vale's interest a couple of weeks ago, but unfortunately I picked up an ankle injury so I couldn't come," Laird told the club's official website. "But I heard the other night I was still wanted and I see it as a good opportunity. "It's a big opportunity for me to do well and hopefully impress the manager back at Manchester City at the same time. "I certainly don't see it as a step down, it's a good opportunity for me."
