Luke Guttridge has joined Leyton Orient on a contract until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old midfielder moves to Brisbane Road from Southend United for an undisclosed fee.
Guttridge spent December on loan with The O's but had hoped to force his way into the Southend side after returning to Roots Hall at the start of the month.
However, after failing to make an impression, he has decided on a permanent switch to Martin Ling's side.
"I have kept abreast of Luke's situation throughout this month back in Southend, and I kept patient, hoping he'd get frustrated with being on the bench," Ling told the club's official website.
"It's happened at the very last minute and I'm absolutely delighted that Luke will be back here wearing the number 16 shirt again.
"Luke will be a major ingredient in our hopes for survival over the last 17 games of this season - and then we will sit down and assess his situation longer term."
