Forest star ponders switch

Julian Bennett may switch positions to improve his chances at Nottingham Forest.

Julian Bennett says he is prepared to switch to centre back in order to win his place back at Nottingham Forest.

Bennett has not started in League One since October 14, with Colin Calderwood's 3-4-3 formation meaning the left-back position is currently redundant.

However, the former Walsall man has been playing as a stopper in the club's reserves and admits he may consider a permanent switch in order to improve his prospects at The City Ground.

"I came to the club as a left back and now we don't play with one," Bennett told the Nottingham Evening Post. "So I am in the wilderness a little bit.

"It is a positive thing to know that it is nothing that I have done wrong.

"I was playing at left wing back and I did not feel I was playing too badly.

"But then the manager left me out, explaining that it was a change of formation.

"I do see the central defensive role as a potential way back into the team, definitely.

"Before I came to Forest I played as a central defender at Walsall.

"I haven't played there for quite a while and also playing with a three is another learning curve for me.

"But I am in there to learn the role and see what happens, I want to get back into the habit of playing again."
