Southend duo Daryl Flahavan and Jay Smith have penned new contracts at Roots Hall.
Goalkeeper Flahavan has added a year to his contract which now runs until 2008 - while midfielder Smith has signed a fresh 12-month deal.
"I had another year to run on my current contract but I didn't need to think twice about signing for another year," Flahavan told the club's official website.
"Last season I felt was my best yet and hopefully I can continue to improve with Southend. I've had two great seasons, what with the double promotions.
"Playing at the highest level you can is what it is all about and now I'm looking forward to the challenge Championship football will offer."
Smith added: "I'm obviously delighted to have signed.
"I am looking forward to next season and playing in the Championship and hopefully I can get a few more games next season and do well for the club."
