The upward curve has been maintained, with The Shrimpers currently sitting pretty in third in League One.
The efforts of Tilson have not gone unnoticed by the board and the club are close to finalising a new contract with their manager.
"Contract negotiations are virtually complete," Southend chairman Ron Martin told the club's official website.
"The most important thing to a football club is the manager and we want to make sure he's part of our future plans as the club continues to grow."
Martin also confirmed Southend have no intention of cashing in on star striker Freddy Eastwood, who has scored eight goals in the league this term.
Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Southampton have all been linked with the hot shot, but Martin insists there is no price on his head.
Martin added: "We're not going to sell Freddy or any of our other players. The team is growing and we want Freddy to be a part of that development.
"I've no preconceived views of what he is worth financially just that his value as a player to the side's progression is enormous.
"He's contracted to the club for the next two years with an option of a third year and that is where he's staying."
