Swansea City will rue missed chances in their 1-1 draw with Southend United.Swansea City will rue missed chances after failing to beat Southend United despite taking the lead through a Lee Trundle strike.
The prolific hit man was a persistent thorn for a Southend side that was in good form going into the game at Vetch Field.
However, it was second placed Swansea that took a deserved lead ten minutes after the interval when Trundle struck with characteristic poise.
Swansea's fans broke into a chants of 'we are top of the league' but moments later these boasts were silenced when Wayne Gray pounced to grab a point for a battling Southend.
Another side looking for promotion to League One are Northampton Town but they too had to settle for point against bottom placed Cambridge.
The Cobblers took a deserved lead on three minutes through a sumptuous run and chip from Dave Rowson but in the second half were pegged back courtesy of a rapid fire double from Cambridge striker Daniel Chillingworth.
Cambridge looked to have claimed an excellent scalp but with eight minutes remaining Scott McGleish, who had earlier hit the bar, fired home from close range to salvage a point for Colin Calderwood's side.
