Neil Redfearn's future as Leeds head coach is in doubt after the club suspended his No 2 Steve Thompson.
Thompson was brought in by Redfearn in December but has been suspended by Leeds with immediate effect.
Redfearn expressed his dismay at Leeds' decision over Thompson in his press conference, suggesting he is now considering his own future.
"I have to have a good hard think now," said Redfearn. "This is disappointing and undermining.
"I would have liked to have known about it beforehand. I don't understand it. I love this football club, but this is a difficult situation for me.
"It seems a really strange decision and I'm bitterly disappointed. It's the ideal partnership. We bounce off each other.
"It's not ideal timing, it hasn't helped. Where before it was a no-brainer (to stay) I've got to have a think.
"It's unbalancing the stability that we had. It goes against everything we're doing."
Redfearn was appointed as Leeds' third permanent boss this season on November 1 on a 12-month rolling contract.
On Thompson, a statement from Leeds read: "The director of football, Nicola Salerno, has today suspended the assistant coach Steve Thompson from his duties at the club.
"This is an internal matter and the club will make no further comment on this internal issue."
Thompson, 50, played for Leicester, Burnley and Rotherham, and had a spell as Blackpool assistant manager before performing the same role with Huddersfield prior to his appointment at Leeds.
Leeds are currently 13th in the Championship and play Blackburn at Elland Road on Saturday.
