Leeds United have signed Ivory Coast defender Sol Bamba on loan from Palermo for the remainder of the season.

Bamba joined Palermo last summer but has only played once in Serie A this season and is United’s first signing in the January transfer window.

The 30-year-old is an experienced centre-back who has played 44 times for his country including starting all three of Ivory Coast's World Cup group games in Brazil during the summer.

Bamba started his career at Paris Saint-Germain before spending five years in Scotland with Dunfermline Athletic and Hibernian.

The defender joined Leicester in 2011 and played 55 times in England before heading to Turkish side Trabzonspor in 2012.
