Leeds new boy Luke Varney insists that his time at former club Portsmouth has altered his outlook on life.
The experienced striker recently penned a two-year contract at Elland Road after reaching an agreement with the financially-stricken outfit regarding the rest of his contract there.
The 29-year-old only joined the South Coast outfit 12 months ago and he told
SkySports.com that although he aims to stay at Leeds for many years to come he has abandoned setting any such long-term goals.

"To be honest I've stopped making long-term plans now because what has happened at Portsmouth shows how things can change so quickly in football these days," said Varney.
"I'll just take it one game at a time and I will look to repay the faith that Leeds have shown in me on the pitch this season.
"I started last season well and then suffered a blow with the knee injury, so I feel I've got something to prove this year and hopefully I can get a run in the team and show what I can do again."
Interesting
Varney hasn't featured below the Championship since leaving League One Crewe in 2007 and he is delighted to be playing in the second-tier again this season.
"Year-by-year the Championship seems to get tougher and tougher, with some big teams coming down and also the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield going up, but that is why it is such an interesting division that players want to be involved in.
"It will be very competitive, with several high-profile matches on the opening day and I can't wait get started really."
