Andy Lonergan wants Leeds United to beat Bristol City and keep caretaker manager Neil Redfearn in with a chance of landing the job permanently.
Redfearn has been entrusted with first-team affairs at Elland Road this week following Simon Grayson's sacking in the wake of their 4-1 home defeat to Birmingham.
The 46-year-old has stepped up from managing Leeds' youth team and he has not ruled himself of the running to replace Grayson.
Lonergan believes the squad are fully behind their caretaker manager and thinks claiming the three points at Ashton Gate would go a long way to helping his cause.
"The lads would like to win for Redders and keep him here, as we know him inside out," he said.
