Winger signs new contract until summer of 2014

Reading winger Jimmy Kebe has accepted the club's offer of a new contract to commit his future to the Madejski Stadium until the summer of 2014. The Royals have been keen to tie Kebe to fresh terms for some time after insisting they were under no pressure to sell the highly-rated 28-year-old. He has now accepted the deal and chairman Sir John Madejski is delighted the player will be staying for a further two-and-a-half years. "I'm thrilled that Jimmy has committed his future to Reading Football Club," Madejski told the club's official website. "He has proved to be a great character and is very popular with the fans and I'm absolutely delighted that he's put pen to paper this afternoon."

Right club

Manager Brian McDermott also expressed his happiness at keeping a player who joined Reading from Lens in January 2008. "I'm delighted that Jimmy has decided to sign a new deal with us," said McDermott "He believes in what we are trying to do here and he obviously feels Reading is the right club for him and that I am the right manager for him. "Negotiations have been ongoing for a long time and I am delighted that it has now reached a conclusion with which everyone is happy." Director of football Nick Hammond added, "There has been a lot of discussion, a lot of communication that has gone on over a period of time, which can happen. "But I'm delighted we're now over the line. Jimmy is a very important player for us and it is great news that we will have him with us as we go into the second half of the season."
