Leeds to discuss Taylor deal

Veteran goalkeeper Taylor has been training with Leeds this week as he continues his search for a new club following his summer departure from Birmingham City.

With Andy Lonergan injured, and Rachubka out of favour following his horror show in the recent 5-0 defeat by Blackpool, the Whites currently have on-loan Alex McCarthy between the posts.

However, with McCarthy shortly due to return to parent club Reading, Grayson is keen to have cover and feels a deal for Taylor could suit both parties.

"It might be something that suits both parties in the short-term deal, to give us cover and put Maik in the shop window, or maybe even a longer-term deal until the end of the season," said Grayson in the Yorkshire Post.

"Alex McCarthy will eventually go back to Reading and it might still be difficult to have Paul in or around my 16. Maik's trained all week and we're going to speak to him and see what comes of it.

"He's experienced and nothing's going to faze him. He's played at the highest level and he's kept himself very fit."

A deal for Taylor would allow Grayson to send Rachubka out on loan as he believes the summer signing would benefit from playing first-team football.

He added: "It would be good for him to get out on loan, but what I will say is that he's trained extremely hard since the Blackpool game and he's looking to get back playing football quickly."
