United old boy heading back to Elland Road

Leeds United look set to sign Danny Pugh on loan from Stoke City. Boss Simon Grayson confirmed that the Whites are ready to bring in a new player after the 3-0 Carling Cup defeat to Manchester United and it appears that Pugh will make a return to Elland Road. The 28-year-old previously made over 50 appearances for the club between 2004 and 2006 and he has been heavily linked with a move back to Yorkshire over recent weeks. Pugh was an unused substitute in Stoke's penalty shoot-out victory over Tottenham in the Carling Cup but speculation has surrounded his future after he was left out of the Potters' Premier League squad. "Hopefully in the (Wednesday) morning," the Leeds manager told reporters when asked if a new signing was in the pipeline. "He's been involved in a game tonight, hopefully he's not got injured and fingers crossed it should be done in the morning."
