Foxes defender attracting attention from the Premier League

Sven-Goran Eriksson is lining up an improved contract to reward Sol Bamba for his impressive start to the season with Leicester. The 26-year-old has established himself as a rock at the heart of the Foxes defence and has produced a level of consistency this year that has simply been outstanding. Bamba, an Ivory Coast international, has seen his talent detected by a cluster of Premier League clubs who were ready to pounce during the summer. However, the new financial clout of the Foxes means they no longer have to relinquish their best assets and Eriksson himself has no interest in seeing Bamba leave the Walkers Stadium.

Improvement

"It has been discussed and there might be some improvement (to his contract)," Eriksson told the Leicester Mercury. "He has been very consistent. I have made many other good buys, but he is among my better buys, of course. "If he goes on like this for the rest of the season, very good." Bamba's burgeoning reputation as a ball-playing defender continues to draw in admirers but the former England manager admits it's not always comfortable viewing. He added: "Sometimes you are close to a heart attack when he wants to control the ball like Franz Beckenbauer, but I don't think he made any mistakes at all last Saturday. He was fantastic."
