Leeds United are to extend striker Mikael Forssell's trial into next week, while the club are also looking at American forward Tony Taylor.
Ex-Chelsea and Birmingham man Forssell joined Leeds earlier this week and he featured in a 2-1 friendly defeat to Middlesbrough.
Manager Simon Grayson knows about the Finland striker's qualities and is keen to see more of him with additional fitness under his belt.
"He's a bit short of match fitness but he's shown the qualities we've seen in him before," commented Grayson.
Also under the microscope was 22-year-old Taylor, a former USA Under-20 international who spent time in Portugal with Estoril Praia.
While it remains to be seen whether the American will be staying on, one who is set to depart is German striker Felix Luz.
Luz bagged a hat-trick for Leeds in a reserve game against Farsley earlier this month, but has now left having failed to win a contract.
