Former Pompey man set for Fratton Park return

Skysports.com understands Portsmouth are poised to sign former defender Jason Pearce from Bournemouth. Pearce started his career at Portsmouth before joining Bournemouth in 2007 and he has established himself as one of the best defenders outside the top two leagues. Pearce's future has been the subject of speculation all summer after Bournemouth missed out on promotion last season. Peterborough made an offer for the 23-year-old, but due to a sell-on clause in his deal, Bournemouth rejected the offer. Portsmouth are due 50% of any transfer fee for Pearce, but they have now come to an agreement to bring the central defender back to Fratton Park. A fee has been agreed between Portsmouth and Bournemouth and Pearce is set to undergo a medical on Friday morning before finalising the move. Pompey boss Steve Cotterill has been looking to bolster his defensive options and it appears Pearce will become their second signing of the summer following the arrival of David Norris.
