Skysports.com understands that Leeds United are leading the chase for former Manchester United youngster Michael Stewart.
The 29-year-old joined Turkish club Genclerbirligi last summer but terminated his contract in January after a series of late and part payments of his salary.
He is now due to link up with Championship side Leeds on Monday, and will spend the next week training with Simon Grayson's men.
Stewart is understood to have rejected an offer to join Premier League outfit Blackpool ahead of linking up with Leeds.
The Seasiders had appeared to be in pole position to land Stewart before Leeds stepped in for the midfielder, who left Hearts for Genclerbirligi last summer.
