Michael Tonge admits that he is open to rejoining Derby if he is surplus to requirements at Stoke.

Midfielder also welcomes Rangers interest

Michael Tonge has admitted that he is open to rejoining Derby if he is considered surplus to requirements at Stoke. The 27-year-old spent the last four months of last season on loan at the Rams, playing 18 games and scoring two goals after failing to break through for the Potters. Tonge has also been linked with a move to Rangers, but stated that he was just focused on pre-season and he could play a part in Stoke's friendly against Derby at Pride Park on Tuesday night. "As far as I know, there has been no bid for me so far," Tonge told The Sentinel. "But I've got to be honest and say I haven't read the latest. "Rangers are obviously a big club, so if they are interested I'd have to look at it. "But talk like this always happens just before the season starts, so we'll have to wait and see.

Great facilities

"I enjoyed my time there (at Derby) and played quite a few games. I would definitely look at it with being there last season. "With not being from the Derby area, I didn't realise before just how well supported the club were. "They've got a great stadium and great training facilities, and I'm sure they'll be looking to push on next season." Despite not playing any part in Stoke's last campaign, Tonge insisted that he did not think his time at the Britannia Stadium was finished and that he would continue to work hard for the club. "I don't really know what's happening, so I am just keeping my head down, working hard and getting myself fit in pre-season training," he added. "I haven't really spoken to the manager about what's happening, but we certainly get on fine."
