City exploring goalkeeper options

Manchester City have made a formal request to the Premier League over an emergency goalkeeper loan. Manchester City may ask to recall goalkeeper Joe Hart but, under rules, there is a 'no-recall clause' in his contract because he joined Birmingham on a season-long loan. Shay Given will see two specialists in the next 72 hours after dislocating his shoulder against Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday.

Responsibility

City have three Premier League games remaining and the club's request for an emergency goalkeeper will be considered by the Premier League Board, who have ultimate responsibility for any decision. City's number two goalkeeper, Stuart Taylor, is still not fit after a knee operation and fourth choice David Gonzalez is still suffering from a groin injury. It leaves Faroe Islands international Gunnar Nielsen as first in line and academy player Loris Karius providing cover.
