Defender Alan Sheehan has joined Crewe on loan for the remainder of the season from League One rivals Leeds.
The left-back has been brought in by Alex boss Gudjon Thordarson after Billy Jones was dismissed for the second time this season in Saturday's 3-2 defeat by the Elland Road outfit.
With Jones now facing a spell on the sidelines through suspension, Sheehan will go straight into the squad for Tuesday night's clash with MK Dons.
The 22-year-old Irishman has struggled with injuries this season and has been limited to just 14 appearances for the Yorkshire club.
Crewe remain just outside the League One drop zone despite a recent improvement and are only three points above the relegation places.
