Veteran defender departs Elland Road

Paul Telfer has left Leeds United after his contract with the Elland Road club was cancelled by mutual consent. The veteran defender was brought to the West Yorkshire side by former manager Gary McAllister last summer and secured a one-year deal after a trial spell. Telfer, 37, made 18 appearances for the League One outfit but has now parted company with the club as he does not figure in Simon Grayson's plans. He made his debut for the club back in August in the 4-0 Carling Cup win against Crystal Palace, but has not featured since Grayson took the helm in December. Having made over 500 appearances in his career with Coventry, Southampton and Luton, Telfer must now decide whether to try and find another club or hang up his boots.
