Gary McAllister insists he has no intention of letting Jermaine Beckford leave Leeds.

Whites keen to keep highly-rated striker

Gary McAllister insists he has no intention of letting Jermaine Beckford leave Leeds. The talented striker has started the season in impressive fashion, scoring four goals in his opening two games. He is widely regarded as one of the hottest properties outside of the top flight, but has a contract at Elland Road until 2010. However, with a number of clubs higher up the league ladder looking to bolster their attacking options before the transfer windows slams shut on 31st August, McAllister's resolve may yet be tested.

Ambition

"I'd be disappointed if I didn't have people interested in Jermaine, but we're trying to get things going at our place and he's one of the better players," the Leeds boss told the Yorkshire Post. "He's on a lengthy contract and nobody will leave the club unless I want them to go. "That's what the chairman has said to me, so I trust him."
Consistency
Beckford, who was playing non-league football two years ago, also bagged over 20 goals last season, and McAllister is hoping that the 24-year-old can maintain his rich vein of form. "He's come a long way very quickly," he said. "The thing we are trying to get across to him is that quality players and goalscorers, repeat and repeat and repeat, they're not just one-season wonders."
