Winger joins on one-month loan; Parker extends stay

Doncaster Rovers midfielder Craig Nelthorpe is set to join League Two side Darlington on a one-month loan. The 20-year-old winger has struggled to break into Sean O'Driscoll's starting XI this season, and moves to The Quakers in a bid to gain first-team experience. Director of football Mickey Walker told the club's official website: "We have one movement out of the club on deadline day - and that is young Craig Nelthorpe. "Hopefully, he will push into the Play-Offs with them. He's a young boy coming through and we have four players who can play in that position - Stuart Elliott, Martin Woods, Sean McDaid and Mark McCammon, who has been playing there recently. "There's a lot of numbers out there plus pros who are young pros. Young Craig is doing very well, but it's good for him to go out. "It's Dave Penney in charge there, a manager that Craig knows. We are really hopeful that he will go up there, get into the side and get Darlington into League One."

Parker extension

Meanwhile, Leeds United defender Ben Parker has extended his loan at Darlington until the end of the season. Parker originally joined Dave Penney's side at the end of February; but Leeds have agreed to prolong the deal. A statement on Leeds' official website read: "The loan arrangement includes an option for a further extension should Darlington reach the play-offs - but the club have also inserted an immediate release clause." Parker has made seven league appearances for Darlington since his switch, with Penney's men currently pushing for promotion in third place.
Kennedy news
Middlesbrough midfielder Jason Kennedy, meanwhile, has also extended his loan spell until the end of the season. The 21-year-old joined the Quakers on an initial one-month deal at the end of February and has featured heavily for Penney's side, making seven appearances and scoring once.
