Leeds United midfielder Jonathan Douglas is targeting a first-team comeback after recovering from a knee injury.

Douglas has been sidelined since before Christmas, but featured for Leeds' reserves against Sheffield Wednesday earlier this week.

The Republic of Ireland international feels this weekend's League One fixture with Walsall may come too soon, but he is eager to aid the club's promotion push.

"My aim is to play a few games between now and the end of the season," Douglas told the club's official website.

"I played 90 minutes on Tuesday and 70 last week. I hope to keep my fitness up and see what happens.

"Saturday might be too soon. But I'd like to get back in and around the squad.

"Prutts and Jonny Howson have probably been our two best players over the past few months, and I'll have to work my way back in."
