Leeds manager Dennis Wise has told Shaun Derry that he is unlikely to have a future at Elland Road.
Derry has been struggling with an Achilles injury and has not featured for Leeds in their impressive start to the season in League One.
Leeds have yet to suffer a league defeat this campaign and Wise admits 29-year-old Derry does not feature in his plans for promotion to the Championship.
"He's not one who's fully in my plans," Wise said.
"I've spoken to Shaun about it and there is a possible loan deal for him when he comes back to fitness.
"The problem is I can't see him being in front of the other players we've got here. I'd also want him to be a lot fitter than he was last year because we've set a certain standard.
"I need him to get to that standard before I consider him, but the door isn't closed and you never know what can happen."
