Skysports.com understand Leeds have tabled a bid for Luton star Dean Morgan.
Morgan has attracted the interest of a host of clubs after impressing this season at Kenilworth Road.
The 23-year-old has established himself as a key member of Mike Newell's side since arriving from Reading in the summer of 2005.
Morgan's current contract expires at the end of the season and as yet he has not been offered a new deal.
The news is thought to have alerted a number of clubs to Morgan's possible availability and Leeds are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by luring the player to Elland Road.
Leeds boss Dennis Wise is determined to bolster his squad as he looks to avoid relegation and he is keen to bring in Morgan during this month's transfer window.
