Eirik Bakke is to return to Leeds United despite the club's insistence that they no longer want him.The Championship outfit are eager to offload the Norway international as they cannot afford to pay his wages, with Bakke one of the few players that were part of Peter Ridsdale's chairmanship still at Elland Road.
Ridsdale's tenure was characterised by a free spending mentality and on £23,000 a week and with an additional £4,000 due for every game played, Bakke is too rich for a Leeds outfit only just recovering financially.
Bakke has struggled to find a new club ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline and as a consequence, has every intention of remaining in Yorkshire until he finds alternative employment.
"I'm flying back to England and I'll train with the other (Leeds) players on Friday," Bakke told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
"I'm still a Leeds player so I'm entitled to train with the club and I'll carry on as normal. I haven't received anything concrete from any other clubs.
"There is a lot of interest in my situation at home, but I don't want to move back to Norway just now."
