Leeds United are likely to be without striker Richard Cresswell for the remainder of The Championship season.
It had been thought he would only miss the next six weeks of action after undergoing a knee operation on Monday.
Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell hoped Cresswell could return in a month, but now admits he will be without the former Preston man for the remainder of the campaign.
Blackwell, who is already nursing Robbie Blake, Rob Hulse and David Healy through games, has hinted cover might be brought in to maintain their promotion challenge.
"Richard's had the operation and he's out for the season," Blackwell told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
"I'll have to look at bringing someone in. We've got one or two options but I don't know how long it will take."
