Crainey blow for Leeds

Leeds United defender Stephen Crainey faces several weeks on the sidelines.

Leeds United defender Stephen Crainey faces several weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Crainey picked up the problem in training earlier in the week and has missed the club's trip to Greece for a friendly on Sunday.

The summer arrival from Southampton has made an immediate impression at Elland Road, making four appearances for Kevin Blackwell's side.

But his promising start has been curtailed by the injury which could prevent him playing for The Whites for around a month.

Crainey's team-mate Clarke Carlisle is also struggling with a hamstring complaint and skipped the game in Greece.

Carlisle's injury is not thought to be serious and he should be available for next Saturday's game at home to Coventry City.
