Hull City skipper Curtis Davies has challenged the team to start keeping more clean sheets at the back.
Steve Bruce’s side have kept a clean sheet just once in the Premier League so far this term, and have let leads slip against both West Ham and Newcastle in their latest 2-2 draws.
Davies now wants the Tigers to go back to their defensive tightness of last season, when they kept ten top-flight clean sheets.
We’ve got all this attacking talent but we still need to make sure we don’t switch off at the back.
He told the Daily Star: “It seems like we have gone the other way from last year, when we kept a lot of clean sheets by keeping it tight at the back and then nicked a few 1-0 wins.
“But in a few games this season we haven’t been able to hold leads.
“We’ve got all this attacking talent but we still need to make sure we don’t switch off at the back.”
While the Tigers face West Brom in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday, Davies insists the Premier League remains the focus.
“We need to stay in the league, that’s still the be-all and end-all,” he said.
