Matty Fryatt: Could make surprise return from injury this season
Hull City boss Steve Bruce has revealed that striker Matty Fryatt could return before the end of the season.
Fryatt was expected to be sidelined until 2013-14 after having surgery to cure a persistent Achilles problem that again plagued him during pre-season.
The 26-year-old has not played since the Capital One Cup first round victory against Rotherham United back in August, but Bruce will not rule out him getting back on the pitch before the summer.
"There is a possibility, but the one thing we won't do with Matty is take any risks," said Bruce.
"At this stage of his recovery, it looks as though he could be back ahead of schedule. If that is the case then great.
"He could be looking to join in (with training) in the next three to four weeks. But we will be governed on that by specialists, doctors, sports scientists, physios and all the rest of it to make sure of his wellbeing going forward.
"Hopefully he can play some kind of part, we'll keep our fingers crossed."
