Stephen Kelly is prepared to play wherever he is needed at Euro 2012, with his versatility making him an important part of the Republic of Ireland set-up.
The Fulham defender has made his name at full-back, but is capable of operating anywhere across the back four.
That flexibility could play into his hands after being handed a place in Giovanni Trapattoni's 23-man squad for this summer's European Championship.
Kelly says he is willing to answer Ireland's call if required and is looking forward to getting his first taste of a major international tournament.
He said: "I feel comfortable anywhere across the back four, and that's been of benefit to me in the past. I have played in every position across there.
"It's something the manager knows and I think he likes it about me. My strongest position is obviously right-back, being a natural right-footer, and that's where I play for my club every week.
"But if the manager was to ask me to play anywhere, I would do it - and gladly do it - and give 100 per cent. I think I can fill in and do a good job there."
Concern
Another of those selected for their versatility is Paul McShane, with the Hull City defender getting the nod over the unfortunate Kevin Foley.
He was drafted in due to concerns over Foley's fitness, but picked up a heel problem himself after linking up with the squad.
McShane was, however, able to figure in Tuesday's 5-0 victory over a Tuscan XI and claims he is raring to go ahead of Euro 2012.
He said: "I had a bruised foot. I went to kick a ball against Bosnia and got caught on the ground, and I was worried it was a ligament.
"I didn't want to come to the squad and then be sent home with an injury, so I just wanted to try to rest it as much as I could.
"But I had a scan and it turned out it was just superficial, just a few muscle fibres in the foot, so everything is grand."
