Ahmed Elmohamady wants to sign a permanent deal with Sunderland and has not ruled out the possibility of UEFA Champions League football at the Stadium of Light.

The right-sided Egyptian international immediately settled into life in the Premier League when arriving on loan from ENPPI in the summer of 2010 and has gone on to make 25 appearances for his club.

Elmohamady's pace and aerial ability have proved to be bonuses for Sunderland manager Steve Bruce during the club's impressive rise to sixth position in the table.

And the 23-year-old wants stay on Wearside and help the club try and force a way into the top four of the table.

"I am really enjoying my time with Sunderland," Elmohamady told the club's official website.

"We are sixth in the league and everything is perfect now. I hope we still keep the same attitude of working hard in training and games.

"I want to stay in Sunderland, I want to sign. I want to play for Sunderland in Europe.

"I hope I do not stay here for just one season because I enjoy playing for the club."

He continued: "Every player here is fantastic and works hard. It is the same every game - we play strong and quickly.

"Maybe sixth, fifth or fourth finish is still possible."

Bruce's man-management skills appear to have had a particular influence on Elmohamady.

He said: "Steve Bruce is a fantastic manager. With him there is not so far between him and the players. He is very close to us.

"Everyone is together. I like the manager very much."
