Jimmy Bullard has been banned from playing in any of Hull City's pre-season games in order to make sure the player is sold.
The cash-strapped Tigers are desperate to offload the midfielder due to his £45,000 per week wages but so far have not been able to agree an exit.
The 31-year-old was thought to be on the verge of joining Celtic on loan at the start of July but infuriated both clubs regarding his demands for a move to Glasgow.
Chairman Adam Pearson has now opted to freeze Bullard out in the hope of a quick sale and to avoid any injuries occurring for the player.
"Jimmy has been in training with the team in Portugal but won't be playing any of our pre-season games," he said.
"We simply can't afford to take the risk of him picking up an injury.
"It would be best for all parties if he can find another club but there has been no suitable offers.
"If Jimmy is still here by the end of the transfer window he will be in contention for Hull City. He is still under contract with us."
