Hull City midfielder Ian Ashbee is pleased that Nick Barmby has been given the captain's armband in his absence.
Manager Phil Brown had struggled to find a replacement for the long-standing skipper, who is out until March with a serious knee injury, but the Tigers boss has now settled on home-town favourite Barmby.
Four different captains were tested before Brown decided on Barmby for the 2-1 win over Wigan at the KC Stadium, but Ashbee thinks he has made the right choice.

"Nick is a local boy who understands the city and the people," Ashbee told the
Hull Daily Mail.
"He's a good player, he's got respect in the dressing room and for me, he was the easy choice.
"It's difficult when the gaffer brings in leaders from other clubs, you don't get to know them until you actually meet them.
"It was a difficult one for him but it looks like he's settled on Nick and I'm sure he's made the right choice."
Good deal
Meanwhile, Hull striker Jozy Altidore has revealed he is happy to bide his time as he tries for a first-team place.
The 19-year-old USA international, who is on a season-long loan from Spanish side Villarreal, is not worried that he has been left out of the starting line-up for the Tigers' last three games.
"I think it will come together well, with the amount of games left, how I'm starting to gel with the guys," he said.
"A lot of different scenarios could happen, but for right now, I think it's going to be a good deal."
