Midfielder Bryan Hughes is hoping to start for Hull when they take on Manchester United in the Theatre of Dreams on Saturday.
Hull boss Phil Brown has been forced to make a change after naming an unchanged side for the past five games, as captain Ian Ashbee is suspended.
Hughes is hoping to step up in his place for this first Premier League start of the campaign, after making four appearances from the bench.
If he does get the nod, the 32-year-old faces a baptism of fire on the hallowed turf of Old Trafford, but is relishing the opportunity.
He said: "Ash is obviously disappointed but if selected hopefully I can give a good account of myself.
"It has been frustrating being on the bench but at the same time it has been enjoyable because the team has done so well.
"We've had an unbelievable start and hopefully it will continue."
