Chelsea striker set to be too expensive for Tigers

Hull City boss Phil Brown has conceded he is unlikely to sign Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro. Brown confirmed earlier this week that he had made contact with Chelsea with a view to agreeing a deal for the Peruvian forward. Stoke City have also been linked with a bid for Pizarro, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Bayern Munich last summer. Reports suggest that new Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is willing to offload Pizarro before the close of the transfer window.

Tried to be creative

However, Tigers manager Brown feels that a deal to bring Pizarro to the KC Stadium is likely to be too expensive. "It doesn't look likely that it's going to happen" Brown told the Hull Daily Mail. "We asked what any deal would cost and then we tried to be creative with it. You've got to be creative once the figures are out of your reach. "If you've got a receptive selling club then you've got a chance. But the ins and outs of the deal make it a very expensive one."
