Hull City defender Sam Collins has been ruled out for the rest of the season through injury.

Collins has been forced to go under the knife to clear up a knee problem.

The defender has been out of action since September and he faces another eight months on the sidelines.

"I'm absolutely devastated because I'm going to be out for a long time," Collins told the club's official website.

"But I've just got to get my head around it and get on with things. There's nothing I can do about it.

"It's a micro-fracture, so it's a small injury, but it means longer on the sidelines than a cruciate."
