Newly-appointed Hull City boss Phil Parkinson used Wednesday's pre-season friendly tie with Doncaster to take another look at his two trialists.

Ex-Newcastle midfielder Martin Brittain and former West Brom winger Lloyd Dyer have been training with The Tigers over recent weeks and Parkinson believes he is close to making a decision regarding their futures.

The former Colchester boss revealed that Martin Brittain would not be joining the club.

"We won't be offering Martin Brittain a deal," said Parkinson.

"I just felt that Martin has been a squad player at Newcastle and it wouldn't progress his career to be a squad player at Hull City."

"We've got Ryan France, Craig Fagan and Dean Marney who can all play on the right side of midfield, so we have quite a lot of options in that position."

Parkinson hinted that Dyer interested him, and said that he is planning on speaking to the 23-year-old in the near future.

"We had another look at Lloyd last night, and we will speak to him in the next couple of days."
