Chester City have secured the services of former Wrexham midfielder Dean Bennett.
The former West Bromwich Albion and Kidderminster Harriers player (pictured) has signed a two-year deal with The Blues, with chairman Stephen Vaughan claiming more arrivals are in the pipeline.
"Dean has agreed to sign after speaking to Mark Wright, and we're expecting a few more signings within the next couple of days," Vaughan told The Evening Leader.
One of those new faces may be former Chester midfielder Kevin Ellison after Vaughan confirmed tabling a £100,000 bid to his current club Hull City for the player.
League One clubs Scunthorpe United and Bristol City have already missed out on the former Leicester City and Stockport County man this close season.
Tranmere Rovers boss Ronnie Moore is also interested in the winger, but Vaughan is hoping he can persuade Ellison back to The Saunders Honda Stadium.
"I am determined to have a good go at winning promotion this season and the only way we will achieve that is with quality players," Vaughan added.
"I have contacted Hull chairman Adam Pearson and hopefully he will find our offer for Kevin Ellison acceptable.
"This isn't the first time we have tried to bring Kevin back to Chester - this is probably our fifth attempt, but hopefully this time our approach will be successful.
"I am not put off by transfer fees and I have shown in the past that if a manager wants a particular player, I will go out and buy him.
"At the end of the day, it is up to the player if he wants to sign and then we'll agree personal terms."
The Blues are reportedly also in talks with Exeter City midfielder Glenn Cronin.
