Wrexham boss Denis Smith has continued his team building by snapping up winger Alex Smith from League Two new boys Chester City.

The 28-year-old arrives at the North Wales club on a free transfer and has signed a one-year contract with the Racecourse Ground club.

Smith's move to Wrexham brings an end to his second spell with Chester, having first played with the Deva Stadium outfit in season 1998/99.

The former Everton trainee has also enjoyed spells with Swindon Town, Port Vale and Reading.

He will be followed by Hull City's Andy Holt, who will complete his move to Wrexham next week.

Meanwhile, Wrexham midfielder Jim Whitley has signed a new two-year contract with The Dragons while young defender Craig Morgan will sign a new Wrexham deal over the weekend.
