Second Division new boys Hull City have finally clinched the signing of Southend defender Leon Cort.

City boss Peter Taylor has been trailing the promising stopper since the close of last season and has now landed one of his summer priorities.

The imposing 24-year-old was torn between a two-year deal offered by The Shrimpers and that proposed by Taylor.

However, Cort has now elected to step up to Second Division football next season with ambitious outfit Hull.

''Hull is a massive club,'' Cort told the club's official website.

''I'm happy to come here and can't wait to get started.''
