Scunthorpe United have made their second summer signing by bringing goalkeeper Paul Musselwhite back to Glanford Park.

The 35-year-old re-joins The Iron after leaving the Third Division club 12 years ago to join Port Vale.

Musselwhite was looking for pastures new at the season's end after being released by Division Two new boys Hull City.

The veteran custodian quickly attracted the interest of Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws and the Iron chief was pleased to bring Musselwhite back to the club.

"We have been looking for an experienced goalkeeper to add to the squad and bring competition," Laws told the club's official website.

"Paul has been playing at Hull City recently and has done very well there but was out of contract and we have decided to bring him in.

"In the past, we have only worked with one professional 'keeper but this time after last season we feel we needed to strengthen that area.

"Paul is very commanding in his box and has a lot of experience to pass on to the other players."

The signing of Musselwhite follows the formal completion of central defender Andy Crosby from Oxford United.
