Swans stay top

SWANSEA CITY had to come from behind to clinch a 2-1 away victory away at bottom placed Carlisle.

The Cumbrian side belied their bottom position in the table by taking the lead through Richie Foran's penalty just before half-time.

However, Brian Flynn's side showed their resolve after the break as Lee Trundle (pictured) converted a spot-kick on 50 minutes and Mark Wilson scored the winner just five minutes later.

Hull kept up the pressure on Swansea with a crushing 6-1 win over Kidderminster Harriers at the Kingston Communications stadium to leave Peter Taylor's side just a point off top spot.

Danny Allsopp, Andrew Dawson, Ryan France and Stuart Green all scored in the rout while Ben Burgess grabbed a double as the Harriers could only reply through a solitary John Williams strike.

Mansfield produced an excellent away display to beat Cambridge United despite going down to nine men before half time.

A first half strike from Craig Disley was added to by a Liam Lawrence penalty on 74 minutes as Iyseden Christie and Rhys Day both saw red for the visitors.

Cambridge managed to pull one back through Terry Fleming on 81 minutes but there cause was not helped by the dismissal of striker Dave Kitson in the last fifteen minutes.

Oxford continued their good run of form with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Northampton Town with goals from Dean Whitehead (32)and a double from Steve Basham (1, 41).

Torquay moved level on points with opponents Yeovil after a 2-0 win at Huish Park.

Last season's top scorer David Graham grabbed the first 15 minutes in and former Arsenal man Jo Osei-Kuffour doubled the advantage just after the hour mark.

Leo Fortune West opened the scoring for Doncaster Rovers against Bury on eleven minutes but that effort was cancelled out by Andy Preece's penalty on 28.

The score did not remain level for long as Greg Blundell restored Rovers' lead seven minutes later and Michael McIndoe made it 3-1 just after half time.

Mickael Antoine Currier marked his debut for Rochdale with a goal in the first half against Lincoln but the Imps equalised through on-loan Marcus Richardson on 44 minutes and both sides had to settle for a point.

Ray Graydon saw his Bristol Rovers side record a home win over Cheltenham Town thanks to a goals from Paul Tait on 43 minutes and a penalty from Wayne Carlisle just before full time.

Steven McLean continued his fine form for Scunthorpe as he scored an early opener for the Iron in their encounter with Southend.

However the Shrimpers managed to claim a rare away point thanks to an equaliser from Leon Constantine on 69.

Darlington made their fans wait for a home goal but grabbed three in the last half hour to see off a struggling Boston United side.

Craig Liddle put the Quakers in front on 65 minutes and Mathew Clarke and Ian Clark added further goals to give the home team all three points.

Huddersfield followed up their excellent Carling Cup win over Sunderland with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Leyton Orient thanks to strikes from Steve Yates, Paul Scott and Andy Booth.

Maccesfield and York City played out a scoreless draw at Moss Rose.
