RICKIE LAMBERT'S solitary strike gave Macclesfield Town a surprise victory over Hull City at Boothferry Park on Friday evening.

Lambert put the Moss Rose outfit ahead five minutes before the interval and they held on for a victory that takes them up to 12th in the table.

The Tigers' hopes of getting back into the game were hit by the sending off of Ryan Williams (pictured) in the 64th minute.

The defeat is a real blow to Brian Little's side's chances of making an automatic promotion place and they may be overtaken in fifth place by local rivals Scunthorpe United on Saturday.
