FA Cup: Tough ties for non-league sides in second round draw

Worcester City’s reward for beating Coventry City in the FA Cup is a trip to Scunthorpe United in the second round.

The Conference North side claimed a 2-1 victory at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday and they will now have to take on another Sky Bet League One side on their own ground in early December.

The draw, which was made at the National Football Museum in Manchester, saw most of the non-league teams remaining in the competition handed away ties against league opposition.

Warrington Town, of the Evo-Stik Division One North and the lowest ranked side left in the FA Cup, feature in the only all non-league tie after they were drawn away to Vanarama Conference high-flyers Gateshead following their shock 1-0 win over Exeter City on Friday night.

Evo-Stik League Premier Division Blyth Spartans will take on League Two strugglers Hartlepool in a North East derby at Victoria Park.

Chester FC were handed a tough away tie against Barnsley at Oakwell after overcoming Southend on Saturday, while Dover Athletic will travel to Cheltenham Town following their defeat of Morecambe.

The winner of the replay between Basingstoke Town and AFC Telford will face a testing trip to Ashton Gate to take on League One leaders Bristol City.
